Según L’Agence nationale de sécurité du médicament et des produits de santé (ANSM), este evento ( retiro de equipo (recall) ) involucró a un dispositivo médico en France que fue producido por Fisher and Paykel Healthcare.

Una corrección al equipo o acción de retiro tomada por el fabricante para abordar un problema con un dispositivo médico. Los retiros (recalls) ocurren cuando un dispositivo médico está defectuoso, cuando puede poner en riesgo la salud, o cuando simultáneamente está defectuoso y puede poner en riesgo la salud.

    The company Fisher and Paykel Healthcare withdrew from the market on December 8, 2006 the lots of references specified in the appendix of the medical device called "CPAP masks" used for sleep apnea due to a risk of breakage of the teeth located on the connector. Masks made since April 2006 have toothless connectors. The company has directly notified the recipients (health facilities and home care providers) of the incriminated lots with the attached message (12/12/2006) (123 KB) validated by Afssaps. This information is addressed to the directors of health establishments and local correspondents of materiovigilance for dissemination, where appropriate to the services concerned. The relevant European Competent Authorities are informed of this measure by the manufacturer.
